Subject: addressed to U.S. soldiers, rather idealized about the occupation
This is a film shown to U.S. soldiers about to be sent to occupy Germany at the end of World War II. It is mostly common sense advice about "educating" Germans for democracy. We of later generations who watch it will find nothing of the dark side of the occupation, of its harshness, the enforced hunger, the terrible displacement of populations, and the Nazis who were allowed to slip through the cracks because they were useful. It should be supplemented with some reading about this period.
